I find myself reminding many small business owners that there is a world outside of social media to explore and that it shouldn’t be your only marketing effort.
However, what I am delighted to encourage here is a marketing evolution regarding age.
Age doesn’t define us as individuals, it doesn’t tell us what we should and shouldn’t like or need in our lives. 🌴
Historically, age has quite often appeared on your ideal client profiles. Or it’s been a factor in what media outlets and brands you work with. And to a degree it is still relevant in *some* cases. ⚡️
I believe that your ideal client profiles should be more about interests, hobbies and lifestyle, and not about age or typical ‘stereotypes’ that we have all been either guilty of using or grouping together. 🌍
Your 85-year-old auntie might listen to podcasts, read e-books, visit websites and she may even have a smart phone! She may also enjoy fashion, beauty and yoga, shop plastic free and love a bit of avocado on toast!!!!! 🥑
(Appreciating that this might have been very different 5, 10, 20+ years ago! Life EVOLVES!)
Use this as a reminder to revisit your ideal clients, delete their age and feel liberated that you are no longer restricting to pigeon holing everyone that might need or want your product or service. Even if they don’t know it yet! 🎉
