It’s easy to say “switch off social” but for many it’s not possible due to the nature of our businesses and our marketing. I’m all for a positive social media relationship so here are a few mindful tips on how you can fill up your social media cup…
🙏 Curate a feed that serves you
Follow accounts that you enjoy, find comfort or learn from. Follow brands you love & those whose ethos you admire. It’s YOUR feed so curate it as you wish.
🙏 Reduce your distraction
Switch to airplane mode when you’re working or in need of a break. Simples.
🙏 Can’t help but scroll? Save posts that inspire you & scroll those instead!
More and more I’m scrolling my saved items for when I need a dose of inspiration for the content that I have specifically chosen for ME. This is great if you’re finding yourself in a big black hole of mundane scrolling.
🙏 Enjoy social media
Finding new connections & opportunities is never ending. Treating your feed as scrolling ‘moodboard’ really fills up your cup in the process.
🙏 Less is more
Stop trying to ‘beat the algorithm’ or race to popularity. Show up a few times a week with quality content instead of a few times a day with content that’s not perhaps ticking the boxes. I’m not talking about output/production, just don’t post for the sake of it. You also don’t need to jump on every awareness day!
🙏 We’re all sitting at this table
Don’t be afraid to engage, share and save along the way and remember you’re not alone. When you are self employed the days can feel isolating, so having an element of connection and relationship in this space really does add to the positive purpose. Keep it genuine & authentic. Pods don’t bring in anything other than a few extra likes/comments, they stops actual ‘ideal clients’ from seeing your content & they don’t bring in the money either! In simple terms, participate more, but don’t overthink it!
Be yourself, inside out.
I hope you find this helpful. 🙏
